The Raj Restaurant

My family and I are visiting from New Jersey, America- and we recently tried The Raj, and I can confidently say it was the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten in my life. Every dish was packed with incredible flavor, cooked to perfection, and beautifully presented. No other restaurant even comes close to matching the quality and authenticity we experienced here. The staff were absolutely lovely—warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. We were not sure what to order- we trusted them to bring out the best foods and every suggestion was spot on. Dining at The Raj was unforgettable, and we’ll definitely be back.

It's been quite a few years since I have been to the Raj it was really good back then, this time exceeded my expectations. Service was attentive and friendly, atmosphere was lively yet relaxing, a well considered menu to suit all and the food was exceptional. We all had different dishes all cooked to perfection and full of flavour. Thank you for a fabulous dining experience we will return much sooner this time.

Absolutely loved my visit to the Raj in Kettering. Staff are very friendly and the food was 10/10 and there is a great variety to choose from. The service was very quick and the atmosphere was incredible. The restaurant was very full which shows it’s a popular place. The Raj Kettering is a top Indian restaurant and would totally recommend!

The Raj is a really good, family run Indian restaurant. The service is very welcoming and hospitable. They offer a considerable variety of dishes. Reasonably priced and well presented. The spicing can be adjusted to fit your tastes. We enjoyed it very much.

I was with a party of 5, and 4 enjoyed it, however, there's not even 1 token English meal so I just didn't eat. I'm not expecting anything fancy, or really anything with that much effort, but 1 English dish would be appreciated. Scampi is usually what's offered, it's what I scan for and usually find; there's usually already chips, and scampi can be cooked from frozen, it's easy, quick, and cheap. Those of us who can't handle curries going to places serving curry are not expecting more than that, we really don't need much, and while The Raj is classier than scampi and chips we'd rather a basic meal than nothing or just eating a bowl of chips on its own. While the rest of my party did enjoy it, they didn't actually eat up everything even though they said they were hungry beforehand, afterwards one said they enjoyed it but they didn't love it. They also ordered 4 different dishes to share and one was visually different, 3 claimed to be different but they said those tasted the same but just had different textures. They said it was "expensive" but they didn't say "too expensive", seems to be on the upper limit. The chairs are horrible, they're an awkward shape, you can't lean your arms on them but tables are about as small as you can go without it being too small (it's a small place, not expecting more space than necessary, the table is fine). I observed 2 people who were a little overweight and one woman with wider hips struggling to squeeze in as well as one person in my party who just wedged herself in. The chairs force you to be more upright and take up less space but I feel like there's better chairs to do that. Overall still decent, if everyone in your party liked Indian food and is fine with a more premium price it's a good option. If you exclude the fact that I'd like a single non-Indian menu meal the food rating would be 4/5 - my 3/5 is not an objective rating and simply contributes to the average. Also, the noise level is quite high but in no way is it the fault of The Raj, there is music in the bar area but in the restaurant it's a lot quieter so the volume is purely guests chatting over each other.

Food, atmosphere, service on point. The best part after our meal the team let us up to the rooftop bar and shisha area.

It was difficult to narrow my selection from a very tempting menu. Based on a recommendation from the server, I ordered the lamb shank and it was absolutely delicious and very tender. The service was first class. I learned that this was a family business with a history of humble beginnings. A tour of the restaurant surprised me with three floors of dining and gathering spaces that were very classy. The attention to detail in service, in the food preparation and the environment were all first class.
